Jamshedpur, March 31: Despite the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of an overbridge in Jojobeda by the Railways, work on the project has yet to commence. Consequently, thousands of commuters are grappling with daily traffic congestion as the railway barrier falls over 100 times within a 24-hour period due to train arrivals.
The persistent traffic snarls have created significant challenges for pedestrians, particularly school children and individuals commuting to work. School children attending various educational institutions and patients requiring urgent medical attention are among those frequently caught in the ensuing traffic jams. In response to the situation, residents from areas such as Jojobeda, Rahargoda, Barigoda, Sopodera, and Govindpur are relocating to Telco and other nearby areas to ensure smoother commuting experiences for their children and themselves.
Local resident Deepak Kumar lamented the dire consequences of the traffic congestion, highlighting instances where individuals have lost their lives while stranded in long queues caused by the falling railway barrier and ensuing traffic gridlock.
Despite the pressing need for the railway overbridge to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance commuter safety, the delay in project execution continues to impede daily life for residents and commuters in the affected areas.
