To enhance accessibility, court decisions to be translated into four languages

Jamshedpur: Addressing the language barrier prevalent in legal proceedings, Justice Dr. SN Pathak highlighted that court decisions, predominantly in English, pose a significant challenge for the majority of citizens who are unable to comprehend the content.

According to the Constitution of India, English serves as the language of the court, leading to arguments and judgments in English, especially in the High Court and Supreme Court. Acknowledging the lack of understanding among the general population, Justice Dr. SN Pathak emphasized the need for translating court decisions into four languages to facilitate broader comprehension of judicial processes.

This initiative aims to bridge the gap and ensure that citizens, who might not be proficient in English, can grasp the rationale behind court verdicts.
