Jamshedpur, March 2: The Clinical Society of Tata Main Hospital (TMH), in partnership with the Vascular Society of India and the Jamshedpur Surgery Society, successfully organized a half-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) event focused on Vascular Surgery Emergency and a workshop on vascular suturing on March 23, 2024.

This pioneering event, the first of its kind in the region, was held at the TMH Auditorium. It was organized under the patronage of Air Vice Marshal (Dr) Sudhir Rai (Retd), a Vascular surgeon himself, Organizing secretary Dr Prashant Raman, MCh (Vascular Surgery) who has functionalized the specialty of Vascular Surgery at TMH and Organizing Chairman Col (Dr) Shivraj Singh Chauhan (Retd) HoD of General Surgery.

With specialized services introduced six months ago at TMH under experienced professionals, the CME aimed to raise awareness among surgeons, drawing nearly 150 participants from Jamshedpur and the surrounding areas.
Distinguished guest speakers for the CME included Dr. Tapish Sahu, Secretary of the Vascular Society of India, Dr. Ravikumar B L, Executive Committee Member of the Eastern Zone, and Dr. Srinivasan A, Consultant Vascular Surgeon from Chennai, among others.
The event provided a valuable learning experience for all clinical practitioners, featuring discussions on common vascular issues encountered in emergencies and daily practices led by experts in the field. Additionally, hands-on training sessions for aspiring and young surgeons, enhanced understanding of vascular emergencies with an emphasis on timely interventions for limb and life-saving outcomes, and guidance on when to consult a vascular surgeon and the array of services they offer were integral parts of the event.
Furthermore, the introduction of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery as a separate super-specialty at TMH, a pioneering initiative in the state and adjoining regions, as well as the promotion of TMH’s new service offerings to its clientele, and skill development opportunities for surgical trainees at TMH and aspiring surgeons state-wide were also shared with the participants. The service, which was earlier limited to Tier one city of the country is made accessible to the people of State.
This event represented a significant milestone in advancing knowledge and skills in vascular surgery, benefiting both medical practitioners and patients alike.
