Thunderstorms, gusty winds and hailstorm forecast over next four days in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather alert for Jharkhand, warning of significant atmospheric disturbances over the next four days. According to the IMD forecast, residents across multiple regions in the state should brace for thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and even hailstorms in certain pockets.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are expected in isolated places across Jharkhand. The only exception is the southwestern part of the state, which is likely to remain unaffected on this day.
On April 9, Similar weather conditions are expected to persist, with the southern, central, and northeastern regions of Jharkhand being the primary zones of concern. Residents in these areas have been advised to stay alert for sudden weather changes.
On April 10, the weather activity is forecast to intensify. Hailstorms are likely in the east-central and adjoining north-central regions, accompanied by thunderstorms and stronger gusts ranging between 40-50 kmph. The southern, central, northeastern, and northwestern regions may also experience thunderstorms, though with varying wind speeds.
On April 11, most of Jharkhand, excluding the northwestern region, is expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds blowing at 40-50 kmph. The northwestern areas might experience relatively less intense winds, in the range of 30-40 kmph.
According to the IMD, the current spell of unstable weather is a result of multiple meteorological systems. An upper air cyclonic circulation is prevailing over northeast Jharkhand and adjoining regions. In addition, a trough is extending from East Bihar to North Telangana, creating conducive conditions for thunderstorms.
Furthermore, a low-pressure area has developed over the central south Bay of Bengal, triggered by another upper air cyclonic circulation. This system is expected to move in a northwestward and later northward direction, possibly influencing the regional weather pattern further in the days ahead.
The IMD has urged residents across Jharkhand to remain vigilant during this period of heightened weather activity. People are advised to avoid open areas during lightning events, secure loose objects that may be displaced by gusty winds, and take all necessary precautions to ensure safety.
