Jamshedpur, Oct 19: Panic gripped Bagbera Colony on Saturday night after a major theft was reported under the Bagbera police station area.
Unidentified thieves targeted the residence of Gaurav Kumar Sinha, located at Block No. 66/2/1 near Ganesh Puja Maidan on Road No. 2, and decamped with valuables worth around Rs 3 lakh, including gold and silver jewellery, a mobile phone, and cash.
According to GauravSinha, the incident occurred between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m.
The burglars reportedly entered the house through the roof and made their way to the kitchen before reaching the almirah.
They took away a gold ‘maangtika*, a pair of gold earrings, silver anklets, four toe rings, an Apple mobile phone, headphones, and Rs 1,500 in cash.
The theft came to light when Gaurav’s sister woke up in the middle of the night and noticed that the room door and almirah were open.
On checking, the family discovered that household items were scattered, and documents on the upper floor were also found in disarray.
The family immediately informed the Bagbera police. Although no immediate response came at first, a team led by officer-in-charge Yogendra Singh later reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
The police have begun collecting fingerprints and reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area. A written complaint was filed by the victim’s family early Sunday morning.
Local representatives, including PanchayatSamiti member Sunil Gupta, Deputy MukhiyaSantosh Thakur, and social worker Mudita Singh, visited the spot and expressed solidarity with the affected family.
