Jamshedpur, June 12: A meeting was organized at the Mines Gate in Musabani, East Singhbhum district, under the leadership of Rajendra Prasad Singh, for temporary laborers working at HCL Mines on Monday. The main topic of discussion during the meeting was the work stoppage that has persisted for the past four months. From February 25 to March 7, temporary laborers had staged a gate jam movement demanding work opportunities at the company gate.

The agitation was called off after negotiations with the HCL management, who assured the workers that work would commence within three months. However, during Monday’s meeting, frustration was expressed towards the HCL management for the delay in resuming work.

It was revealed that despite the passage of three months, the tender process has not been completed, leaving the laborers unemployed. Moreover, they are being deprived of the ESI (Employee’s State Insurance) facility, which is causing difficulties for the education and well-being of their children. The workers are now facing an economic crisis due to the prolonged work stoppage. In the meeting, the workers made a decision that if production in the mines does not resume soon, they will initiate another movement to demand work opportunities. Present at the meeting were Rajendra Prasad Singh, Sumant Shyamal, Mohd. Islam, Kartik Beldar, Babulal Hembram, Gokul Raut, Mangal Patar, Irfan Ansari, Sunil Upadhyay, Mohan Bera, Yusuf Khan, Mohd. Ayub, Deepak Shyamal and others.
