BJP Calls for City Shutdown on July 3 Over Himanshu Singh Murder and Escalating Crime

Jamshedpur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a complete shutdown of Jamshedpur on Friday, July 3. The bandh has been organized to protest the brutal murder of Himanshu Singh in Bistupur, alongside a sharp spike in open stabbings, thefts, daylight robberies, illegal lottery syndicates, the drug trade, and chain-snatching incidents targeting women across the city.

BJP leaders emphasized on Thursday that the shutdown carries no political agenda. Instead, it is aimed at restoring peace, security, and a fear-free atmosphere for the residents. They urged citizens to transform the bandh into a mass public movement, expressing grave concern over the collapsing law-and-order situation, administrative inertia, and the emboldened state of criminals.

To minimize public inconvenience, hospitals, ambulances, pharmacies, milk booths, and other emergency services will remain completely operational throughout the bandh.

Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Sahu alleged that over the past few months, the steel city has turned into a haven for anti-social elements. “Criminals have lost all fear of the police. They are openly challenging the law. Even after Himanshu Singh’s murder, broad-daylight stabbing incidents continue unabated,” Sahu warned.

BJP Jamshedpur President Sanjeev Sinha appealed to all local business bodies, industrial units, trade unions, transport associations (including auto and bus unions), educational institutions, and cultural organizations to show solidarity by keeping their establishments closed.
