Jamshedpur, Oct 18: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from Bagbera in the outskirts of Jamshedpur, prompting police to launch a manhunt for two accused who have been absconding since the incident.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the accused have been identified as Lal Babu Chandravanshi (40) and Deepu Chandravanshi alias Ruwani, both residents of Garabasa near Govardhan Baba Temple.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11:30 a.m. on October 16, when the teenager had stepped out of her home for some work and did not return.
Her family searched for her throughout the day but failed to locate her.
The next morning, on October 17, they approached Bagbera police station and filed a written complaint, alleging that the two men had abducted the girl with the intent to harm her.
They also accused the duo of using abusive language, harassment, and issuing threats.
Following the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code related to abduction, assault, and criminal intimidation.
Bagbera police station officer-in-charge said that a special team has been formed to trace the accused. “We are analysing mobile phone locations and CCTV footage from nearby areas. Both accused will be arrested soon,” the officer assured.
