Jamshedpur, Oct 18: Police have cracked the sensational robbery case reported recently in the Kadma area, in which valuables worth around Rs 20 lakh were looted.
Acting promptly, police have arrested five accused and recovered weapons along with stolen items from their possession.
City SP Shivashish informed that on the evening of October 9, around 7:30 pm, a group of seven to eight masked men armed with weapons barged into the house of Deep Raj Singh, a resident of Ramnagar Road No. 2, Kadma.
The assailants reportedly held the family hostage in one room and decamped with jewellery and valuables worth about Rs 20 lakh.
Following the incident, an investigation was launched under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted, which, after a professional probe, successfully solved the case.
Those arrested have been identified as Mohammad Saddam, Faheem Alam, Krishna Lohar alias Paari, Sayoraj Singh alias Jasse, and Kunal Singh Munda.
Police have recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges, a gold bracelet, a Titan wristwatch, a scooter, and a battery-operated auto-rickshaw used in the crime.
According to police, all the arrested individuals have criminal records and were previously involved in serious offences such as murder, theft, and burglary.
Raids are continuing to nab the remaining absconding accused.
