Tatanagar: Shalimar-Kurla Express gets additional AC coach to ease passenger rush

Jamshedpur, June 28: In a major relief for railway passengers, the South Eastern Railway has introduced an additional Third AC coach on the Shalimar-Kurla Express to accommodate the growing rush of travellers. The extra coach has been attached from last Saturday and will remain in service until July 5, 2026.

Railway officials said the decision was taken after a sharp rise in reservation demand on the train, which has been witnessing heavy passenger traffic and long waiting lists. The additional coach is expected to improve seat availability and provide a more comfortable travel experience for passengers.

The move will particularly benefit passengers travelling through the Tatanagar route, including those from Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal. As the train is a popular choice for long-distance travel, the extra coach is expected to increase the chances of waitlisted passengers getting confirmed berths.

According to railway officials, around 80 passengers are likely to benefit directly from the additional coach on each trip. The measure is also expected to reduce last-minute inconvenience caused by unconfirmed tickets and ease overcrowding during the peak travel season.
