Jamshedpur, Feb 4: Tatanagar railway station is on the way to become world class, courtesy an ambitious plan approved by the Union Railway Ministry for its expansion and renovation.
Sources said the Railway Ministry has proposed to spend Rs 300 crore on the modernization and beautification of the railway station. Budgetary allocation has been made in this direction this year, sources said.
As per the plan, Tatanagar railway station would get seating facility to accommodate 2000 passengers. New ticket counters, water counters, toilets and station building would be constructed with various modern amenties for passengers. Adityapur railway station would also be developed. A master plan for these projects is being prepared, sources said.
Sources said 15 railway stations will be renovated so that they get a new look. These stations include Sini, Gamharia, Chaibasa, Barbil, Rajgangpur, Bimalgarh, Donguaposi, Barajamda, Manoharpur and Bamra. Reconstruction work will also be carried out. The Central government is learnt to have given its approval to the proposal, sources said.
Sources said Deepak Kumar Jha has been made the Principal Chief, Operations, South Eastern Railway. He has taken charge of his office. Earlier he was the Executive Director of Traffic Transportation Steel, Railway Board.
