Jamshedpur: Rail commuters in Jamshedpur continue to suffer severe disruptions as train delays show no signs of easing. Despite recent passenger demonstrations, 18 trains faced significant delays on Friday and Saturday, throwing travel plans into disarray across the Tatanagar Railway Station network.
The disruption reached an alarming scale, with several trains running up to six hours behind schedule. The 12129 Azad Hind Express, a critical long-distance service, arrived nearly six hours late, underscoring the severity of the operational collapse.
Railway sources confirmed that nearly a dozen trains passing through Tatanagar reported delays between one and four hours. The 18478 Kalinga Utkal Express reached Tatanagar at 9:34 PM, running 3 hours and 49 minutes late. Other major disruptions included:
- South Bihar Express (13287): 3 hours 57 minutes late.
- Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Itwari-Tata Express (18110): 2 hours 52 minutes late.
- Steel Express (12813): 2 hours 43 minutes late.
- Latur Special Superfast (01430): 6 hours 15 minutes late.
The bottlenecks extended to MEMU services and popular long-distance routes, including the Mumbai Mail, Samaleshwari Express, and Kriya Yoga Express.
Frustrated passengers slammed the railway administration, noting that despite repeated protests in recent weeks, authorities have failed to restore punctuality. Commuters reported a wave of missed connections and grueling wait times at stations.
As rail operations continue to struggle, passengers are demanding immediate corrective measures to fix infrastructure inefficiencies in one of the region’s busiest corridors.
