Jamshedpur, October 22: Tata Steel UISL has successfully led an impactful campaign to significantly reduce the spread of dengue in Jamshedpur. In an impressive achievement, the number of dengue cases this year has dropped by 85%, with only 206 cases reported in comparison to last year’s 1,234 cases. This reduction is the result of strategic and consistent efforts undertaken by Tata Steel UISL.

Between April and October 15, the team conducted house-to-house searches, covering 6,41,755 homes across Jamshedpur. Out of these, 25,331 homes were identified with Aedes mosquito infestations, the primary carrier of the dengue virus.

A series of awareness campaigns and activities were launched in Jamshedpur to educate the community about dengue prevention. These included live Aedes Mosquito demonstrations in schools: 68 sessions were organised to spread knowledge among students; drum beating rallies: 48 rallies were conducted to draw attention to the importance of dengue prevention.

* Palti Maar Movement: 59 of these unique movements were held to encourage community involvement.

* Nukkad Nataks (Street Plays): 92 performances were staged in Jamshedpur to raise awareness in a relatable and engaging manner.

Tata Steel UISL also harnessed digital platforms such as the Zimmedar App, along with its website and company’s intranet, to disseminate critical information on dengue prevention. The efforts extended to training their officers and supervisors on dengue awareness, ensuring the message spread across all verticals.

In addition to community engagement, Tata Steel UISL carried out extensive fogging operations, focusing on areas with high mosquito indices. Subzones with over 5 Index saw thorough fogging campaigns, and special BigTifa fogging operations were executed in areas with more than 10 Index.

This comprehensive and multi-pronged approach reflected Tata Steel UISL’s dedication to public health and its continuing commitment to making Jamshedpur a safer and healthier city. With the number of dengue cases sharply declining, Tata Steel UISL continued to serve as a model for community-driven health initiatives.
