Jamshedpur, August 26: Sports department of Tata Steel is conducting Inter Corporate Badminton Tournament (Men & Women) for executives on 26 and 27 August at Badminton Hall of JRD Tata Sports Complex on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dorabji Tata.
In women category quarter final- team Tata Steel, Tata Motors, TRF and Tinplate made their way to the semi final after defeating their rivals in the quarter final on Friday. Women from Tata Motors consisting of Ruth Perkins, Amruta Kadeo & Ruth Perkins defeated team JCAPCPL by 2-0 . Women from TRF consisting of Richa Jena, Neha Singh & Sneha beat ISWP by 2-0. Team Tinplate overcame Team Jusco 2-1.
In the women’s semi final -Tata Steel will face Tata Motors and TRF will take on Tinplate on Saturday.
In the men’s category Team Tata Steel, Tata Hitachi, Civil Services and Tata Motors made their way into the Semi Final.
Earlier in the quarter final – Team Tata Steel defeated Tata Consultancy Engineers by 2-0, Tata Hitachi beat TSPDL 2-0, Tata Motors defeated Central Excise and sales tax by 2-0. In the last quarter final match Civil Services overcame Tata Bluescope 2-0 to fix a place in the semi final. In the semi final scheduled on Saturday, Tata Steel will face Tata Hitachi while Civil Services will take on Tata Motors.
Referees for the ongoing tournament are S K Srivastava, Amit Modak, A K Gupta, P Mohan Rao, L Murmu and L K Mishra. Vivek Sharma, Coach, Tata Steel Badminton Training Center is conducting the entire event with the support of Avinash Kumar, Firoz Khan, Punam Kumari, Renu Bhaduriya, Ravi Barua and his staffs team. Final of both Men & Women will also be played on Saturday at 3.30 PM. Prize distribution will held at 5.00 PM. Chief Guest for the final will be Avneesh Gupta, PEO, Tata Steel.
