Chanakya Chaudhary flags off Fire Fighting vehicle
Jamshedpur, April 14: Tata Steel today observed National Fire Service Day organising various programmes while paying homage to the brave fire fighters who sacrificed their lives while performing duties.
Tata Steel will also observe “National Fire Service Week” from April 14 to 20 across all locations. During the period, authorities will create fire safety awareness among the employees, vendor partner, contractors, school students and community at large on fire safety.

Today, opening ceremony witnessed presence of Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President Corporate Services Tata Steel as Chief Guest at Fire & Rescue Services, Jamshedpur.
Dr Vinita Singh, General Manager Medical Services, Tata Steel, Arvind Kumar Sinha, Chief Security & Brand Protection, Tata Steel and Shahnawaz Khan, Union Committee Member, Fire Brigade paid homage to the brave fire fighters.

Chanakya Chaudhary praised the courage & selflessness of the fire fighters for saving the community from life threatening situation. He expressed his compliments to the Fire Service of Tata Steel for efficient management fire related emergencies within and outside the Company.

He appreciated the availability of advance fire-fighting resources at Tata Steel Fire & Rescue Services, Jamshedpur to deal with any related emergencies. He emphasized on the importance of prevention of fire and asked the team to conduct regular Fire Audits at shop-floors. He advised the Fire & Rescue team to carry out the week’s planned activities with dedication so that maximum awareness on fire safety can be spread at the shop-floor & communities. He also flagged off Fire Fighting vehicle.

Notably April 14 is observed as National Fire Service Day in India. On this day, in the year 1944, the Fire Personnel displayed exemplary courage and devotion to their duty as they fought the huge fire that had erupted following an explosion on a ship S.S. Fort Stikine at the dock of Mumbai Port. Many firefighters lost their lives in this incident.
