Jamshedpur Workers College’s Payal Mandal wins inter-college speech contest

Jamshedpur, April 3: Sanskar Bharati Jamshedpur Mahanagar organised a memorial meeting on Friday to honour the first National President of the organisation, Dr. Shailendra Nath Srivastava. On the occasion, an inter-college speech competition on the topic “The Constitution in Public Perspective” was held, drawing participation from around 40 students from various colleges.

Payal Rani Mandal of Workers College secured the first prize, while Roshan Kumar from Co-operative College bagged the second position. Sonia Tudu of Graduate College stood third. Encouragement awards were given to Raja Dongre, Rakhi Kumari, Priyanka Tiwari, Disha Kumari, and Shruti Kumari.

The panel of judges included Krishna Sinha, Vijay Bhushan, and Rama Singh, who evaluated the participants on content, presentation, and understanding of the topic. The event witnessed the presence of more than 100 attendees, who appreciated the performances and paid tribute to Dr. Srivastava.

On the occasion, senior members of Sanskar Bharati—Nagesh Rao, Dr. Shakuntala Pathak, and Hari Mittal—were honoured with angavastra, certificates, and mementos for their long association with the organisation.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Ragini Bhushan highlighted that Dr. Srivastava was a former Hindi professor at Patna University and also served as Vice-Chancellor of Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur. She noted that he dedicated his life to literature, art, and inspiring youth.

The programme began with a Dhyeya Geet by Neelambar Chaudhary and Upasana Sinha, while Vinod Singh conducted the proceedings. Several office bearers and active members were present, contributing to the success of the event.
