Ranchi, April 14: The charge-sheeted accused in the second Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) scam case are set to appear before the CBI special court on Tuesday, April 15. The court has issued summons to all the accused and fixed the date for their appearance.
The CBI investigation had revealed serious irregularities in the recruitment process. It found that the marks of 12 candidates were illegally increased on the instructions of the then JPSC member and coordinator. Further, the marks of several candidates were tampered with by altering their answer sheets, and interview scores were inflated to manipulate final results. The answer sheets were sent to a forensic laboratory in Gujarat for verification.
A total of 70 individuals had been named as accused in the chargesheet, including former JPSC Chairman Dilip Prasad. Several of them were currently serving as senior government officers, promoted from the DSP rank and posted in key district-level roles.
The CBI registered an FIR in the case on July 7, 2012, following a directive from the High Court. After a 12-year-long investigation, the chargesheet was finally filed on November 26 in the special court.
