Tata Steel lineman murder case: Police arrest Sahzada Khan

Jamshedpur : In a major breakthrough into the murder of Tata Steel employee, the police arrested Sahzada Khan for alleged involvement in Satyadev Yadav murder case at Jugsalai late in the evening of September 15. The police also recovered a 9 MM pistol and two live cartridges from the arrested person.

A resident of Kapali, Chandil police station area, Sahzada (32) is one of the five assailants whose name has figured in the investigation into the murder case. Four others are Mohammed Badku, resident of Mosabani and Mohammed Kadir, a resident of Nimdih and Afsar Khan and Mohammed Shaqeel, both residents of Adityapur Muslim Bustee.

The East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police Amol V Homkar said that the murder of the Tata Steel employee Satyadev Yadav was conspired by Afsar Khan, a noted criminal. During the interrogation, Sahzada confessed that it was Afsar Khan, who is his brother-in-law, to have conspired the shooting meant to spread fear in the area.

The victim Satyadev Yadav (47) posted as a lineman in Tata Steel was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants at Jugsalai near a railway track linking Adityapur railway yard to Tata Steel Works. The incident took place, while Yadav was returning to a shunting yard in Adityapur after unloading coal and other minerals at the Tata Steel works.

Officer-in-charge, Jugsalai police station Ashok Giri said that two bike borne criminals had shot at Yadav. “The investigation is on and it seems that the intention of shooting was not to kill anyone, but to create a fear,” said Giri.

The officer-in-charge said the assailant who fired the shot at Yadav was not residents of Garib Nawaz Colony in Jugsalai, but some local youths were in close contact with the shooter.

The police officer refused to reveal the name of those picked up for interrogation, claiming that it will mar investigation .

Yadav, who was a resident of Baridih was survived by his wife and three children.
