XLRI gears up to host Kshitij 2014

Jamshedpur : It is that time of the year again, when students across the city ready themselves to give their best. Children across schools are busy preparing themselves for Kshitij.

Kshitij is a full day inter-school talent search competition for children aimed at unearthing those hidden talents in and around Jamshedpur. Kshitij 2014 is going to be held on 21st September in XLRI premises. The Tinplate Company of India Ltd. (TCIL), a TATA Enterprise, is the title sponsor of Kshitij 2014.

Over 450 students from around 20 schools will be participating in various events such as dancing, painting, quiz, play, picture story and talent show. The event is scheduled to start at 8:30 in the morning and various competitions will take place all through the day across the XLRI campus.

Prize Distribution ceremony will be held at 4:15 PM in TATA Auditorium. Officials from Tinplate and delegates from CII and CII-YI Net at Jamshedpur will be amongst the distinguished guests present at the event.

The uniqueness of Kshitij lies in the fact that it brings children from all strata of the society together on a common platform and gives them equal opportunities. The students of XLRI look forward to this event with all the warmth in their hearts.

They personally look after the conveyance of the school children and also serve food to all the children and teachers in the student mess. In the end, the children are gifted notebooks, pens and chocolates while the victorious one are lauded with awards. The underlying message to the children through this event is that each one of them is special and talented in his own way.

A new initiative that has been conceived and will be implemented this year as a part of Kshitij is the creation of a scholarship program. The �Young Achiever Scholarship� will be awarded to the top 5 talented and deserving candidates. The scholarship will cover the annual tuition fee of the awardee for an entire year. This undertaking by CII YI XLRI is aimed at aiding the less privileged students fulfill their dreams and aspirations and also further inspire them to scale greater heights.

This event will act as a prelude to Daan Utsav, previously known as Joy of Giving week which will be which will be celebrated from 2nd to the 8th of October. With this event, CII YI Net in XLRI aims to provide an enriching and holistic experience for the children of Jamshedpur where they get to display their skills on a grand stage and are rewarded for their excellence.
