Jamshedpur, June 12: Tata Motors’ Jamshedpur plant will remain closed for three days starting Friday, June 13. The company has announced a two-day block closure on June 13 and 14, followed by the regular weekly off on Sunday, June 15. Operations will resume on Monday, June 16.
The shutdown was announced via a circular issued by Plant Head Sunil Tiwari, in line with the agreement signed on July 31, 2017. As per the rules, 50% of the closure period will be adjusted from company leave and the remaining 50% from employees’ personal leave. If an employee’s casual or privilege leave balance is exhausted, the corresponding amount will be deducted from salary.
Employees and officers who are required for duty during the closure must report to work. Those who remain absent will face full-day salary deductions, and the day will be treated as leave.
This production halt is expected to affect ancillary units, especially in the Adityapur Industrial Area, where nearly 90% of businesses are dependent on Tata Motors. Additionally, no leave will be sanctioned to employees immediately before or after the block closure.
