Jamshedpur: A violent clash erupted between old and new Durga Puja committee members at Parsudih market on Tuesday, leaving three people seriously injured. The altercation, which began over Bhoomi Pujan and financial disputes, escalated into a sword attack.
Injured members included Shyam Bihari Yadav, Rahul Mukhi, and Ranjit Yadav, all of whom sustained head and neck injuries and were rushed to MGM Hospital.
According to sources, the old committee allegedly attacked the new members after being accused of failing to present last year’s donation and expenditure accounts. Following this, the market committee had dissolved the old committee and installed a new one, sparking ongoing rivalry.
The victims named old committee president Jitendra Yadav and member Ramesh Atwar as key assailants. Police have deployed forces in the area to prevent further escalation and were searching for the accused.
The incident created tension in Parsudih, raising concerns about security ahead of the festive season. Authorities assured strict monitoring to ensure public safety.
