Jamshedpur, Dec 5: The secretary of state department of agriculture, animal husbandry and cooperative, Abu Bakr Siddique on Monday took stock of the progress of various government projects in East Singhbhum district and directed concerned officials to speed up implementation of various projects as the last quarter of the financial year 2022-23 has begun.
At a meeting held at the district collectorate building in the presence of the deputy commissioner of the district Vijaya Jadhav, Siddique urged officials of various departments to take suitable measures to ensure that the targets are met. He pointed out that under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) the target is to cover 550 hectares.
He also asked the concerned officials to select beneficiaries and then coordinate with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), soil conservation and the department of horticulture to ensure that the target is achieved soon. Siddique also asked the government officials to clear all 16,000 pending KCC loan waiver cases within the next seven days.
To the animal husbandry department officials, Siddique said that they should speed up the appointment of Pashu Sakhis (animal buddies). He informed that 160 veterinarians will also be appointed soon and that the process to induct animal husbandry officials has been started and they will be posted in various blocks to help cattle owners.
On learning that milk production in the district is not up to the mark, Siddique directed the department’s officials to earmark plots to set up Bulk Milk Collection (BMC) centres to improve milk production and collection.
He also instructed the officers to conduct animal health camps in various parts of the district to vaccinate and help improve health of cattle. He also urged the officials to spread awareness among villagers about the financial benefits that can be earned from animal husbandry.
Siddique also directed the fishery department officials to increase the scope of fishery projects in the district. He pointed out that against the target of 300 farmers to be trained in fishery, only 180 have been trained while in mushroom cultivation 210 farmers out of the targeted 250 have been trained. He directed that more farmers should be trained in pisciculture and mushroom cultivation.
