Loyola School Jamshedpur aces Rita Narayan Memorial Quiz

Rajendra Vidyalaya bags 2nd spot in quiz organised by Rotary West

Jamshedpur, Dec 5: Tough competition prevailed as 18 teams battled in the preliminary round of the 6th Rita Narayan Memorial Quiz, held at United Club in Bistupur on Saturday.

The quiz is organized by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West in memory of late Rita Narayan, who was a very active member of the club and was the wife of Om Narayan, former managing director of Tayo Rolls.

Out of the 18 teams, four made it to the last leg of the competition: Loyola School, Rajendra Vidyalaya (RV), Gulmohar School and Sheyn International School.    

The final round of the quiz had six interesting rounds.

Four teams from the schools in the city reached the final round and competed for the trophy, but Loyola School students showed good presence of mind in the final round and edged past all the other teams and clinched this year’s title. 

The winners received cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy.

Rajendra Vidyalaya emerged the runner-up and received Rs 3,000 cash award plus a trophy.

Gulmohar School bagged the third position and received Rs 2,000 cash prize and a trophy.

Consolation prize went to Sheyn International School. They got cash prize of Rs 1,000.  Quiz Master for the day was Arindam Chakraborty.  Chief Guest for the occasion Om Narayan gave away prizes to winners. PP Shweta Chand was the Master of Ceremony for the event.

Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West President Nibha Mishra along with Joohi Samarpita extended technical support and helped in monitoring score and stop watch.

Dr Sujata Mitra shared her memories of Rita Narayan. She remembered her (Rita) as an avid book reader, educationist and committed social worker.

Earlier, the event was inaugurated in presence of Om Narayan, Pratim Banerjee, Simran Saggu, Nibha Mishra, Gurpreet Kaur Bhatia, Abhijit Mitra and others.
