State-level Abacus competition held in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The State-Level Indian Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition was organised on December 21, at the Bari Maidan Club House in Sakchi. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across Jharkhand, showcasing their impressive mental calculation skills.

The competition was graced by Dr. Nikhil Kumar, Scientist at CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), Jamshedpur, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the students, Dr. Kumar appreciated their dedication and discipline, and encouraged them to continue strengthening their mental abilities through regular practice.


The main objective of the competition was to provide a common platform for students to assess and improve their concentration, imagination and mental arithmetic skills. The event highlighted the growing importance of mental mathematics in enhancing cognitive development, focus and confidence among children.


All participating students were honoured with medals and trophies in recognition of their efforts and performance. The competition was smoothly planned and conducted by Team Indian Abacus Jharkhand.


Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Singh, State Head of Indian Abacus Jharkhand, said that students had been preparing for the event for the past three months. He noted that such competitions help develop not only speed and accuracy in mathematics but also vital life skills such as focus, imagination and self-confidence. Parents present at the venue appreciated the initiative and the students’ remarkable performances.
