Jamshedpur, Oct. 28: Mumbai-based Sure Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (SSS) is prepping up to establish a manufacturing unit of Aerial Target Products for defense purposes at Gopalpur Industrial Park of Tata Steel in the Ganjam district of Odisha.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the first assembly line shed was held on Wednesday inside the Gopalpur Industrial park being developed by TSSEZ Ltd. in the august presence of Shri Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister, Industries and School & Mass Education, Govovernment of Odisha, along with Dr Pradeep Panigrahy, Minister, Higher Education, Science & Technology and State Rural Water Supply, Government of Odisha, Dr Ramesh Chandra�Chyyau Patnaik, MLA, Berhampur, Lt General Saighal, Army Air Defence College Commandant, Arun Misra, Vice-President, Project Gopalpur & MD, Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Ltd, Rajiv Kumar, Vice-President, Operations, Tata Steel (Kalinganagar Project), Anant Bhalotia, Managing Director, Sure Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and other dignitaries.
The Aerial Target Manufacturing facility will be set up by M/s Sure Safety Solutions Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with M/s Megitt Defence, United Kingdom. Sure Safety Solutions (SSS) is expected to invest Rs 50-60 crore in the assembly plant, which will be built over 5 acres under the ‘Make in India’ scheme. The project will begin with an assembly line for aerial targets, followed with servicing Meggitt’s more than $50 million order procured from Indian Ministry of Defense for aerial targets.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Misra said, �This is a bright beginning for us and we look forward to many more such investments and opportunities in this industrial park in coming days. We are in discussions with investors in China and other South-East Asian countries too who have shown interest to partner with us in this growth.� He further said, �We are committed to establish this region as the next industrial hot spot of the state of Odisha and this occasion marks the first step in this regard.�
Ravi Agarwal, President and CEO, Sure Safety Solutions, shared, �We are glad to associate ourselves with Tata Steel Industrial Park at Gopalpur and will contribute our bit to industrial development of the area. We hope to start production here by mid of 2016.�
It may be reiterated that Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, a 100% subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd. is developing an Industrial Park at Gopalpur in Ganjam district,which will not only facilitate industrial development in the region, but also contribute to the holistic development of the area. Recently, 1235 acres of this land has been registered in the name of Tata Steel SEZ in the first phase.
Among others present during the groundbreaking ceremony at Gopalpur were Mr Peter Longstaff, MD, Meggitt Defense Systems Ltd., UK, Chris Hilder, Head of Business Development, Meggitt Defence Systems Ltd., UK along with Smt K Madhavi, Mayor, BMC, Subhash Moharana, Chairman, Behampur Development Authority, Sushanta Mishra, Chief, Gopalpur Project, Pervez Akhtar, Chief, Engineering, Gopalpur Project and other senior officials of Tata Steel.
