Singhbhum Chamber pays tribute to Ratan Tata’s visionary leadership, contributions to city’s development

Jamshedpur, October 15: In a condolence meeting organized by the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), businessmen and entrepreneurs paid their respects to Tata Trust Chairman, Padma Vibhushan Ratan Tata. The event, attended by former presidents and Tata Steel Vice President Chaitanya Bhanu, reflected on Ratan Tata’s legacy and impact on the industrial world.

The meeting was conducted by SCCI Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia, who commenced the solemn proceedings by screening a video of Ratan Tata’s address to the Chamber during his visit to Jamshedpur on March 3, 2012.

Chamber President Vijay Anand Moonka led the tributes, expressing deep sorrow at Ratan Tata’s passing, referring to him as a remarkable personality who would be remembered for ages. Moonka highlighted Tata’s visionary leadership, and his contributions to Jamshedpur’s development. He recalled the historic day when Ratan Tata spent over 100 minutes with Chamber members, marking it as one of the most significant moments in the SCCI’s history.

Former Chamber President Rajkumar Agarwal also shared memories of Ratan Tata’s visit, emphasizing his humility and attentiveness. Agarwal recounted how Ratan Tata personally called to say he was using a pen gifted to him during his visit, a gesture that left a lasting impression.

Chaitanya Bhanu, representing Tata Steel, praised Ratan Tata’s leadership during challenging times, particularly his decision to keep Tata Steel operational despite advice to shut it down. Bhanu described Tata as a visionary who steered Tata Steel to global success.

The event concluded with a shared sentiment of gratitude and admiration for Ratan Tata’s life and legacy, with members reflecting on his simplicity, punctuality, and deep wisdom.
