Jamshedpur, October 15: Nearly one acre of government land near Ram Madiya Basti in Adityapur was encroached and occupied, and a large tin shed was constructed using stolen electricity. Former Ward 18 Councillor Ranjan Singh reported the matter to CO Gamharia, Arvind Kumar Bedia, who promptly intervened on Tuesday morning, stopping the construction. The individuals involved fled the scene before the CO’s arrival.

Upon discovering electricity theft, Junior Engineer Sanjay Mahato from the Electricity department arrived with a team around 1 p.m. to confiscate the equipment and initiate a case of electricity theft. CO Arvind Kumar Bedia stated that a thorough investigation will be conducted, and those responsible for the illegal construction would face legal action.

Local residents claimed that encroachments were common along the road from Kharkai Bridge to Radha Swami Satsang Marg, where temporary and permanent structures were being built on government land for commercial use, with little intervention from previous officials.
