Showcause to three PDS dealers, DC warns of action

Jamshedpur, Feb 21: East Singhbhum district administration has served show-cause notice to three public distribution system (PDS) shop dealers for allegedly giving lesser amount of foodgrains than prescribed.

Sources said a team comprising executive magistrate Nisha Kumari, Santosh Mahato and Jyoti Kumari conducted surprise inspection of 14 PDS shops in five panchayats of Bodam block on Tuesday. During the inspection, it was found that three PDS dealers were not giving the right amount of provisions to beneficiaries. On further inquiry, the allegations were found to be true, sources said.

Sources said Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav had directed the officials to inspect PDS shops and take action against dealers found guilty of sharp practice.
