Seraikela, June 21: The highly anticipated nine-day chariot fair, a regional spectacle, was inaugurated by Seraikela Sub-Divisional Officer Ram Krishna Kumar, who ceremoniously cut the ribbon. The event witnessed the presence of Nitish Kumar, Station In-Charge, and Ganesh Mahali, a prominent BJP leader. Extending his heartfelt wishes to the local community, the SDO expressed his hope for a joyous and prosperous life, emphasizing the cultural significance of Seraikela’s chariot fair.
Distinguished guests also took the stage to address the audience. Manoj Kumar Chowdhary, President of the Shri Jagannath Mela Committee, provided insights into the fair’s organization. The Shri Gundicha Temple has been splendidly decorated, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Lord Jagannath. The nine-day chariot fair has been meticulously planned to entertain people from all walks of life and cater to the devotees’ diverse preferences.
The fair offers a range of attractions, including the captivating Devsabha (divine assembly), Meena Bazaar (a market with various stalls), children’s swings, toys, and a delectable array of chaats, bhelpuri, and favorite food stalls. Additionally, visitors can explore shops offering Manihari (traditional ornaments), Poojan Samagri (worship items), and a variety of essential household items. Seraikela’s Rath Yatra adheres to a unique tradition observed worldwide, wherein Lord Jagannath manifests in various forms at the Sri Gundicha Temple, captivating the attention of devotees.
To ensure the well-being of the devotees, food will be provided every afternoon throughout the duration of the fair. The event witnessed the presence of notable personalities, including Guru Sushant Kumar Mohapatra, Govind Sahu, Sudip Kumar Sahu, Rupesh Sahu, Kamal Nag, Badrinarayan Daroga, Tukun Hunj, Sumit Mohapatra, Ravi Satpati, Rajeev Mohapatra, Sunaina Dubey, Bablu Dubey, Pinky Modak, Rupa Pati, Vicky Satpati, Prabhat Swasi, Vikas Prajapati, Kunal Sahu, Hrithik Sahu, Vikas Daroga, Chiranjeevi Mohapatra, Parshuram Kavi, Rajesh Mishra, Dev Prasanna Sarangi, Rajesh Bhol, Purna Chandra Prajapati, Dinesh Sahu, and Santosh Prajapati. The chariot fair promises an enchanting experience for attendees, capturing the essence of Seraikela’s vibrant culture and heritage.
