Seraikela Police recover minor after 17 days, three arrested

Seraikela, May 26: In a significant development, the police successfully recovered a minor resident of the RIT police station area in Seraikela-Kharsawan district after she was abducted by her lover with the assistance of his friends. The minor had been living with her lover for 18 days before the police intervened. On May 24, Sunny Kumar and Rohit Kumar Verma were apprehended on charges of kidnapping, and in a subsequent raid, Raunak Verma from Adityapur Kulupatanga township was also arrested. Raunak played a crucial role in assisting the police in locating the minor. The announcement was made by Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash during a press conference. However, three other suspects, Sahil Hembram, Rahul Kumar, and Rajeev Nayan Verma, are still at large but are expected to be arrested soon. Following the recovery of the minor, she underwent a medical examination. The case unfolded on May 9 when the minor was abducted. Her father promptly filed an FIR at the RIT police station on May 11, accusing Raunak Kumar Verma, Sahil Hembram, Rohit Kumar Verma, Rahul Kumar Verma, Rajeev Nayan Verma, and Sunny of kidnapping his daughter. Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash formed a dedicated team, headed by DSP Headquarters Chandan Vats, to investigate the case. The team utilized technical expertise to track the location of the mobile phones involved and subsequently apprehended Sunny Kumar and Rohit Kumar Verma on May 24. During questioning, both confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping, but the minor had not yet been located. It was with the assistance of these individuals that the police were able to locate and recover the minor on May 25. Alongside the minor, Raunak Verma was also apprehended. The police seized a mobile phone from the accused individuals. The raiding team consisted of RIT police station in-charge Sagar Lal Mahatha, police sub-inspectors Chittaranjan Kumar, Sujit Kumar Singh, Arun Kant Pandey, Karuna Kumari, Tiger Mobile Udham Singh, Vikas Chandra Pandey, Umashankar Singh, and other armed forces
