Seraikela, Sep 16: Subrato Mahato, bodyguard of Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner (DC), died in a road accident near Koldipi fuel station on Seraikela-Kandra main road under Seraikela police station area on Friday.
Sources said the mishap occurred in the evening when Subrato was going to his residence at Police Lines in Dugni on a bike after duty. Just then his bike collided with a scooty coming in opposite direction at high speed. He sustained critical injury and died at the scene. The scooty driver, identified as Krishna Kaivarta, was also seriously injured in the incident. He was taken to Sadar Hospital, Seraikela.
Police have begun a probe into the incident.
