Jamshedpur: The legal fraternity in Jamshedpur mourns the loss of senior advocate Pratap Narayan Gope, popularly known as P.N. Gope, who passed away Saturday morning at Mercy Hospital, Baridih. He was 85.
Senior advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu confirmed that the family will perform the last rites at 11:00 AM on Sunday at the Beldih Cemetery in the Bistupur Circuit House area.
Gope leaves behind a distinguished legal legacy spanning nearly 57 years. During his career, he served as a Public Prosecutor for approximately 13 years, earning a reputation for integrity and a mastery of both criminal and civil law.
Beyond the courtroom, Gope dedicated his time to social justice. He worked actively with the Birsa Seva Dal and various organizations to uplift Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, and economically weaker sections of society.
His daughter-in-law and grandson survive him; his wife and two sons predeceased him.
Prominent members of the legal community, including Jharkhand Bar Council Vice Chairman Rajesh Kumar Shukla, Bar Association President R. Nath Das, and Secretary Rajesh Ranjan, expressed deep grief and paid heartfelt tributes to the veteran lawyer.
