Jamshedpur, Jan 28: Taking proactive steps to tackle the issues faced by businesses and industrial establishments in Chakulia, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry, led by President Vijay Anand Moonka, convened a meeting with local entrepreneurs. The primary objective of the session was to identify and resolve impediments hindering the growth of businesses in the region.
In his address to the gathering, President Moonka underscored the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of businessmen and entrepreneurs. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to organize comprehensive meetings across all areas represented by the Chamber, ensuring a thorough understanding of the challenges faced by local businesses.
Key concerns brought forward during the meeting included dissatisfaction among businessmen regarding the absence of government initiatives to foster business and industry in Chakulia. The dearth of an industrial environment has dissuaded new investments, pushing the younger generation to seek opportunities in other states.
A longstanding need for an airport in either Dhalbhumgarh or Chakulia was emphasized by participants. The lack of adequate air connectivity has hampered the interest of major industrialists, stalling industrial development in the area.
Criticism was directed towards the government’s law mandating 75 percent reservation for local workers in industrial establishments. Businessmen highlighted the resulting shortage of experienced labor, leading to decreased industrial production and economic challenges. They urged the government to consider amending the law or taking steps to enhance the skills of local workers.
Industries in Chakulia are grappling with insufficient electricity supply, exacerbated by frequent power cuts due to the presence of elephants in the area. These interruptions have led to decreased production, impacting the income of companies and posing challenges in meeting expenses.
Despite ample opportunities for green energy in the region, the government’s lack of initiative is impeding its development. Business leaders urged the government to take proactive steps, emphasizing the potential to boost government revenue, create new employment opportunities, and mitigate youth migration.
Concerns were raised by mill owners about financial losses incurred due to delayed payments for rice and paddy supplies. They called for measures to ensure timely payments, alleviating financial burdens on businesses.
The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry assured the business community that the gathered feedback would be utilized to expedite solutions, contributing to the overall development of Chakulia and its surrounding areas.
