Jamshedpur, Oct 12: State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy visited Pardih to inspect the ongoing construction of road and drain on Saturday. He planned the inspection following complaints from local residents. After carrying out the inspection, he directed the local engineer in-charge of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to give him a copy of design of the proposed highway and drain. He also asked him to get potholes on the highway filled and levelled to ensure safety of commuters.
Roy said the local residents had complained to him regarding poor quality of construction work at Pardih. The residents alleged that the rods being used to construct the drain were not of desired diameter. They said the drain should be constructed as per standard set by the road construction department, he said.
The minister said the complaints were found to be genuine. He thereafter spoke to the NHAI engineer in-charge and sought details about the project design so as to compare the same with the work being done by the contractor.
Roy said the drain and road should be strong enough to be useful in all seasons round the year for a long time.
