Ranchi, Aug. 8: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today announced that former India women’s hockey captain Sumrai Tete will be the brand ambassador for Jharkhand hockey.
He said that Tete would be given the responsibility to train state level hockey players, an official release said here.
The announcement was made while felicitating Tete.
Tete, who has got the Dhyanchand award, has given her consent, the release said.
Das directed the sports secretary and sports director to lay focus on Simdega, Gumla, Khunti and Lohardaga for hockey, all 6 districts of Santhal Pargana for football and districts of Kolhan division for archery.
He said that sports can’t be developed properly until the players are trained professionally.
He said that sports teach to remain normal in victory as well as in defeat.
At the same time, it also teaches to struggle hard for victory. He wished the youths to impart sports in life.
