Rotary Club Jamshedpur organizes three health check camps on World Heart Day

Jamshedpur, Sept 29:  The Rotary Club of Jamshedpur organized blood pressure and diabetes checkup camps at three city points on the occasion of World Heart Day. Three teams of doctors at Santosh Medical in Sonari, JAP Camp at Sidgora and Manipal Tata Medical College checked 404 persons who underwent diabetes, blood pressure, BMI, height and weight checks at the three centres.

Doctors and dieticians at the camps advised people simple ways of healthy living that could keep diabetes, hypertension, cardiac ailments including heart attacks at bay and ensure longevity and good health.

Doctors said that diabetes and high blood pressure were major factors of cardiac diseases. They pointed out that heart diseases were not restricted to age and could happen to anyone be it a child or an adult or elderly. The medics at the three camps averred that sedentary lifestyles, irregular eating habits, junk food, excessive mental stress, heavy smoking, obesity led to complications like diabetes and hypertension. “Avoid fatty food, exercise, eat simple and nutritious food and if possible, take some time out from routine work and spend time with activities you like,” they suggested.

The camps were organized and managed by Rotary Club President Madhumita Santra, Anil Pandey, Dr R Bharat, Dr Anil Kumar, Aruna Taneja, Sunit Kumar, Prabir Patel, Dr VSP Sinha, Sukhdev Singh and others.
