Road Blocked in Jamshedpur after two teenagers killed in truck–bike collision

Traffic disrupted from Sundarnagar to Jugsalai; blockade lifted after compensation talks with police

Jamshedpur: Two teenage boys were killed in a tragic road accident late Saturday night near Kudada under the Sundarnagar police station area, triggering protests by local villagers who blocked the road and disrupted traffic for several hours. The blockade was lifted on Sunday morning after police held talks with villagers and an agreement was reached on compensation from the truck owner.

The deceased were identified as Durga Hembram (16), a resident of Hisku village, and Marshall Soren (15) from Kedo. Both died on the spot after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a speeding truck.

According to reports, the two teenagers were travelling on a Hero Honda Splendor motorcycle when the accident occurred near Kudada. A fast-moving truck allegedly rammed into their bike, causing a powerful impact that led to their deaths.

The incident sparked anger among local residents. Soon after the accident, villagers gathered at the site and blocked the road in protest, demanding strict action against the truck driver. The blockade led to a massive traffic jam, with long queues of vehicles stretching from Sundarnagar to Jugsalai.

Eyewitnesses said villagers also managed to apprehend the truck driver and held him at the spot until the police arrived. On receiving information, a team from Sundarnagar police station rushed to the scene and tried to calm the protesting villagers. However, the crowd initially refused to disperse and continued their protest.

Police officials later took the truck driver into custody and began an investigation into the accident. On Sunday morning, after prolonged discussions between the police and the villagers, an agreement was reached regarding compensation to the families of the deceased from the truck owner.

Following the settlement, the protesters withdrew the road blockade, restoring normal traffic movement in the area. Police then sent the bodies of the two teenagers for post-mortem examination.

Officials said further legal action will be taken after a detailed investigation into the incident.
