Ranchi: Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) has been grappling with a surge in unpleasant incidents, including cases of molestation and attempted rape involving female students. A recent case highlighted the alarming situation, where a BA B.Ed student was allegedly molested and an attempt was made to rape her. In response, the victim sent an email to all the university officials, seeking immediate attention to the matter.
Sources suggest that the individuals suspected of being involved in these incidents are also students of the university, with a history of similar criminal activities. This has raised concerns about the lack of stringent measures to address the issue, with many questioning whether these students are being shielded by the administration, thereby emboldening them to commit such acts without fear of consequence.
Students of CUJ have expressed their outrage, staging protests and a sit-in in front of the administration building. They have voiced their concerns that the university is inadvertently protecting these criminal students, allowing them to continue their illegal activities. This is not an isolated case—there have been numerous such incidents in the past, which, according to students, have been overlooked by the authorities.
One such case involved a student from the Chemistry department, which once again drew attention to the recurring nature of these incidents. However, despite the growing number of cases, the administration has been criticized for its lack of action, with students demanding immediate and effective steps to ensure their safety and well-being. The failure to take concrete action has left many feeling disillusioned with the administration’s handling of the situation.
