Jamshedpur, Dec. 5: The health budget of Jharkhand should be 10 % of the state�s GDP and it should be equivalent to the education budget of a state, said Bejon Mishra, founder of Consumer online Foundation, on Saturday.
Addressing a gathering during the launch project on universal health coverage for all at Tata Auditorium XLRI, Mishra said that the government should ensure that every citizen of India should get health coverage and patients should not have to sell their assets and take loan for health treatment.
�About 60 % people of India take loans and sell their assets for health treatment. In the next 3-4 years we would develop an environment in Jharkhand where people will not need to worry about their health issues,� Mishra added.
Mishra further said, in this era of digitalization, every citizens of the country should get health benefits and urged the policy holders of the Government of India to prepare a law for Right to Health Act in the lines of the Right to Information and Right to Service Acts.
It�s the duty of the citizen to convey its idea to the government on Right to health so that the government gets assistance while making the health policy, said Colonel RP Singh.
Dr. KS Sidhu was felicitated for its contribution towards the society on the occasion.
