Jamshedpur: A review meeting on the progress of schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana and Dharti Aaba Tribal Rural Development Campaign was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi. Senior officials including Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan, Director NEP Santosh Garg, District Social Welfare Officer David Balihar, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, technical engineers, all BDOs and other officers were present.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that both initiatives are aimed at Scheduled Tribe-dominated and particularly vulnerable tribal groups, and directed regional officers to ensure timely and transparent implementation of the schemes. He stressed regular monitoring, field visits and proactiveness to ensure benefits reach the intended beneficiaries without delay.
During the review, it was informed that under the Dharti Aaba Abhiyan, tribal multipurpose community centres will be set up in 16 panchayats across 6 blocks. Proposals have been received for renovation of 5 Scheduled Tribe residential schools and construction of 7 new hostels. Under Swadesh Darshan Yojana, 14 homestays have been identified in Ghatsila for tourism promotion. The Fisheries Department has set a target to distribute two two-wheelers and one three-wheeler with ice boxes. Registration and employment of tribal youth in the employment office was also discussed.
In connection with the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, officials informed that 9 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras are functional in the district. Land transfer and demarcation for construction of permanent Anganwadi centres are underway, along with a proposal to build 17 multipurpose centres in 5 blocks. Tender process for 8 approved road projects is to begin soon. Hostel construction works in schools of Bodam, Chakulia and Gudabandha blocks were also reviewed.
Expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work, the Deputy Commissioner directed that construction of 1,214 approved houses under the Janman Awas Yojana must be completed by October 2. He further instructed departments to ensure drinking water supply to all households, provide electricity to uncovered tribal hamlets under the Mukhyamantri Ujjwal Jharkhand Yojana, and give priority to basic amenities in backward tribal areas.
