Jamshedpur, May 28: The longstanding issues in the Mango Drinking Water Project will soon be addressed as officials reached an agreement to revise its initial design layout. The goal was to ensure equitable distribution of drinking water across all areas of Mango. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by MLA Saryu Roy at the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department office on Wednesday. Mango Municipal Corporation Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar also participated via phone.
During the meeting, it was revealed that several areas with existing pipelines were not receiving adequate water supply. In zones 1 and 3, for example, water tanks emptied within 20–25 minutes, whereas in Zone 6, residents received water in abundance for extended periods. In Zone 4’s Samta Nagar, officials claimed to supply water to half the area, but residents reported receiving none.

To correct this imbalance, a consensus was reached to modify the original project design. The Executive Engineer directed junior engineers to prepare a detailed report highlighting areas where water supply was not reaching. The possibility of connecting rising pipelines between Zones 4 and 6 was also discussed.
MLA Saryu Roy emphasized that the Deputy Commissioner must maintain an account of every drop of water and ensure transparency in consumption and revenue collection. He inspected the water quality testing lab in Adityapur and confirmed that the water being supplied was satisfactory. A new motor pump will also be procured, with the tendering process already underway.
Executive Engineers Sumit Kumar, Pawan Singh, Santosh Bhagat, and Pintu Singh were present during the meeting.
