Red alert for rain and storm in Jharkhand

Ranchi/Jamshedpur, Mar 21: The Jharkhand Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for strong winds and heavy rain in several districts of the state until March 23.

Abhishek Anand, a meteorologist at the Ranchi Center, stated, “A thunderstorm with wind speeds of 60-80 km per hour is expected. Red alerts have been issued for Khunti, Simdega and West Singhbhum.”

On Friday, Jharkhand witnessed cloudy skies and intermittent drizzle. The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded in Chaibasa (54.1 mm), while Jamshedpur received 7.7 mm.

An orange alert has been issued for districts including Ranchi, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh and Dhanbad. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Koderma, Latehar and Lohardaga.
