State team wins seven medals at meet in Thiruvananthapuram
Jamshedpur: Athletes from Jharkhand delivered an impressive performance at the 46th National Masters Athletics Championship held from January 28 to February 1 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, winning a total of seven medals and bringing pride to the state.
Rasik Chandra Hessa emerged as the star performer by securing three gold medals in the 30+ age group. He topped the podium in the 800 metres, 1,500 metres, and 3,000 metres steeplechase, completing a remarkable hat-trick of victories.
Adding to Jharkhand’s gold tally, Munna Buruli won the gold medal in the 3,000 metres steeplechase in the 35+ age group with a strong performance.
In field events, Pappu Bharti claimed a silver medal in the javelin throw in the 30+ age category. Earlier in the championship, Avtar Singh contributed two more medals by winning silver in the javelin throw and bronze in the shot put.
With four gold, two silver, and one bronze medal, the Jharkhand team showcased excellent overall performance at the national level.
Officials and sports lovers praised the athletes for their dedication and discipline. The success reflects the growing strength of Masters Athletics in Jharkhand and the continuous efforts of the players to excel in sports.
