Jamshedpur: A cash prize distribution ceremony was held at Kerala Public School, Kadma, to honour the Sub-Junior Jharkhand Boys’ Basketball Team for their impressive performance at the national level. The team secured second place at the Sub-Junior National Basketball Championship held in Dehradun.
Sharat Chandran attended the programme as the chief guest, while social worker Mukhtar Alam Khan, Academic Director Lakshmi R, and KPS Kadma Principal Sharmila Mukherjee were present as special guests.
The players were awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh given by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI). The event was organised by the Jharkhand Basketball Association. Association Secretary J.P. Singh, President Harbhajan Singh, Treasurer Pradeep Mukherjee, along with other office bearers and staff, were also present.
The Jharkhand team included Dhruv Mukherjee, Pradhyumn Bairwa, Rishav Raj, captain Ranjan Murmu, Sahil Kumar Bodra, Ganesh Karmakar, Ritesh Murmu, Pinnu Kumar, Aman Kumar, Harsh Kumar, Pritam Kumar, and Saurjay Ghosh.
The team was coached by Mohammad Arif Aftab, with Adarsh Kumar as assistant coach and Vishal Das as manager.
Speaking on the occasion, the guests congratulated the players and coaches and said the achievement reflects a bright future for basketball in Jharkhand. They stressed the importance of continued support and improved sports facilities in the state.
