Jamshedpur, July 21: West Singhbhum police here on Thursday arrested one Dayal Mundu alias Bablu for allegedly raping a woman in Birsa Toli under Kiriburu police station area.
Police said the victim had lodged a complaint against the accused on Wednesday. The accused reportedly raped the victim after breaking open the door of her house when she was alone a week ago. When the victim was going to lodge a police complaint, the accused allegedly stopped her and tried to get the complaint dismissed with the help of his local acquaintances in the Panchayat, police said.
The victim lodged the police complaint when her husband returned home. Police have sent the accused to judicial custody.
