Bike Crashes into Electric Pole in Jamshedpur; Teenager Killed

Jamshedpur: An 18-year-old youth died after his motorcycle lost control and crashed violently into a roadside electric pole near Kancha Maidan under the Bagbera police station area on Saturday evening.

The victim, Tilu Pradhan, succumbed to critical head and body injuries late last night at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital, despite emergency efforts by doctors to save him. Pradhan, a resident of Nimtola in Parsudih, worked at a local chicken shop on DB Road in Bagbera and was the sole breadwinner for his family.

High-Speed Impact Flings Riders onto Road

According to the Bagbera police, Pradhan had closed shop and left for Kamalpur alongside his friend, Rajesh Hembram, to visit his elder sister.

As they navigated the Kancha Maidan stretch, the motorcycle lost control and struck an electric pole. The force of the impact flung both riders off the vehicle and onto the tarmac. While Pradhan sustained fatal trauma, Hembram escaped the collision with minor injuries.

Local residents rushed to the scene immediately after hearing the loud crash, alerted the police, and helped transport both injured youths to the MGM Hospital emergency ward.

Police Launch Investigation as Neighbourhood Mourns

A team from the Bagbera police station arrived at the hospital to initiate legal proceedings. Authorities sent Pradhan’s body for a post-mortem examination on Sunday morning before handing it over to his grieving family.

“Preliminary findings indicate that the motorcycle was travelling at a high speed, causing the rider to lose control,” a responding police officer stated. “However, we are thoroughly examining all aspects of the accident to ascertain the exact sequence of events.”

The tragic news has cast a deep pall of gloom over the Nimtola neighbourhood in Parsudih, as relatives and friends mourn the untimely demise of the hardworking teenager.
