Jamshedpur: The 106th battalion of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), stationed in Sundernagar, commemorated its 34th Raising Day on Friday with a display of grandeur and reverence. Battalion Commandant Dr. Nishit Kumar, along with Second Commanding Officer Sachchidanand Mishra and fellow officers, paid a heartfelt tribute to the martyrs by laying flowers at the Martyr Memorial situated at Gandhi Complex.
The solemn ceremony was followed by the dignified proceedings of the Guard of Honor at the quarter guard. Subsequently, a military conference was convened at the Men’s Club, where the Commandant extended his congratulations to all personnel on the foundation day. The conference also highlighted the commendable achievements of the 106th Battalion over the past years, emphasizing its pivotal role in successfully managing various festivals and important elections during the preceding year.
Drawing inspiration from the illustrious history of the force, the Commandant affirmed the battalion’s unwavering commitment to serving the nation with sensitive policing, prioritizing the welfare and safety of the citizens.
Established on December 1, 1990, in Dimapur, Nagaland, the RAF 106th Battalion underwent basic training before being relocated to Jamshedpur on July 22, 1994. LN Baishnav served as the first commandant of this esteemed battalion.
The Raising Day celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, subordinate officers, and soldiers, creating a jubilant atmosphere. The Commandant took the opportunity to extend warm greetings to the soldiers and their families, expressing gratitude for their dedication and service on this momentous occasion.
