Jamshedpur, August 18: Frustrated by the nine-year delay in the implementation of Bagbera Rural Water Supply Scheme, Bagbera residents, led by North-East Bagbera Panchayat Deputy Mukhiya Suresh Nishad, organized a padyatra to protest the lack of progress in the project. The march, which began at 7 am from Wireless Maidan, culminated in a meeting at Gandhinagar Branch Ground, where participants raised the slogan ‘No water, no vote’ in a call for action before the upcoming assembly elections.

Former District Councilor Kishore Yadav, who addressed the gathering, criticized the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation for its sluggish pace, noting that despite spending ₹237 crore, the project remained incomplete. He warned that if the water supply was not initiated before the elections, around 1.5 lakh residents of Bagbera and surrounding areas would unite to boycott voting. The padyatra saw the participation of numerous Panchayat representatives and local residents, who had grown increasingly impatient with the lack of progress on this vital issue.
