Man Arrested for Looting ₹1.5 Lakh from Finance Executive in Kapali

Jamshedpur: The police have achieved a breakthrough in the firing and robbery case where ₹1.5 lakh was looted from a microfinance executive at Damdubi Ansarnagar, under the Kapali Outpost (OP) of Chandil Police Station jurisdiction. In a swift operation, the police arrested the prime accused in the case, Tariq Qureshi. The details were disclosed during a press conference held at the Chandil SDPO office.

On May 7, 2026, at around 3:15 PM, unidentified criminals opened fire on a microfinance executive near the residence of Rabana Khatoon in Damdubi Ansarnagar, fleeing with approximately ₹1,50,000. Following the incident, Chandil Police Station registered Case No. 67/2026 under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.

Special Investigation Team Leads the Operation

Given the gravity of the crime, a special team was formed under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, led by Kapali OP in-charge Dheeranjan Kumar. The team launched raid operations with help of CCTV footage, technical evidence, and human intelligence.

During the investigation, the police arrested the main accused, identified as Tariq Qureshi, alias Ayan Qureshi. While the accused is originally a resident of Damdubi Ansarnagar, police records indicate his current address is near Awaliya Nagar on Umred Road.

The police are currently interrogating the accused. Raids are underway to recover the weapon used in the robbery and the remaining looted cash. The police have also intensified operations to apprehend the other criminals involved in the case.
