Ranchi: Teachers and employees from 1250 unfunded inter colleges, high schools, Sanskrit schools, and madrassas in Jharkhand staged a protest in front of the Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday, voicing their demands and seeking attention to their concerns.
Under the banner of the Shiksha Sanyukta Sangharsh Morcha, the education workers asserted their demands, emphasizing financial autonomy for Jharkhand and seeking recognition as state employees. Their key demands include a fourfold increase in grants to address inflationary pressures, immediate disbursal of grant funds for the fiscal year 2020-21 to the remaining educational institutions, and an extension of the retirement age to 62 years, aligning with the policies in Chhattisgarh.
During the protest, Sanskrit teachers stood out in yellow attire, while Madrasa teachers wore distinctive caps. The Mahadharna witnessed the participation of thousands of unemployed teachers and employees from various districts of the state, creating a unified front to address the challenges faced by the unfunded educational institutions in Jharkhand.
